Maternity Photos in Dominical

We were able to add a combined session including family and maternity photos in Dominical Beach, Costa Rica. This was a magical spot and although I tend to photograph on the other side of the beach, the tide was quite high and this side was a better option.

The lighting here is so fiery and majestic. Back in the states, I would have my clients steer clear from wearing all black. Here, it not only works but it looks stunning.

With the mountains as our backdrop the sun dips away even faster, giving us just a short timeline to get in all the photos we want. If we start too early, the sun is too harsh. Wait too long however, and the sun has descended into the mountains, creating a bit too much shade for a golden hour session. This depends upon the geography of each specific beach. If you drive just a bit south to the next beach, its shoreline is more open, giving you more of that golden hour light. But I just can’t get enough of this beach and its rugged, rocky coastline.
