Newborn Session At Home

Meet Baby Bruce. This rad little dude was 2 weeks old at his newborn session. Our photo shoot was bright and early, and Bruce was wide awake for the entire thing!

Whenever I meet a newborn in person, I’m always amazed at how tiny they are! They look larger than life in photos, so I included mama’s hand in this one, just to give you a new perspective at just how little they truly are.

I probably could have gotten a few more pictures of Bruce on his belly if he was asleep. But this cutie was bright eyed and bushy tailed. Understandably, he wanted nothing to do with that. Instead I was able to capture those beautiful blue eyes! Still, any newborn session is still quite different from my other family sessions. An awake 2-week-old is quite different than an awake 3-year-old!

Okay, I know I said he was awake the entire shoot. And he was, sort of. But there was a moment where he took a nursing break and (maybe?) fell asleep. As you can imagine, he woke up pretty quickly once he was out of mama’s arms. This picture above is a quick frozen moment in time between being removed from mom’s arms and waking up. Oh, I remember those early years…

Did I mention this alert little pumpkin has a big sister? I was able to play with her while her little brother nursed. She helped me take some pictures, and then she used her big sister magic and calmed him by gently stroking his head.
